Browning Trail Cameras Help North Carolina Hunter Arrow 8 Point Buck
Jordan Jessup from North Carolina shares how his Browning Trail Cameras helped him arrow a great 8-point buck this archery season! Here is Jordan's story below:
TRUST.
One of my biggest hurdles several years ago was trusting my scouting and my plan. I was afraid to mess up, spook deer, and mainly… fail. I decided I was tired of not seeing and having opportunities at mature deer in bow season. So, I changed my approach: Be super aggressive and hunt either in bedding or on the closest edge to bedding I can get, and when the first scrape pops up, be there. My mentality was, if I’m gonna fail, I’m gonna fail while being aggressive.
My focus was to hunt the hot scrapes as they open in October… be there and don’t miss that window! By using my Browning Trail Cameras, I was able to cover different scrapes close to bedding areas and put myself in the best position possible to be successful.
On October 19th, I went in for the gamble on a morning hunt. I had waited all week to hunt this one bedding scrape in the morning. Due to working during the week that’s just not possible, so Saturday morning was it. I knew I would either see a great deer or get skunked… part of the deal in these types of areas. I needed to trust the sign, trust my Browning Trail Cameras, and be ready!
After a slow start I heard footsteps, and at around 8:10 a.m. I look up…Coming back to bed is the big chocolate rack 8-point that I've been after! I got a few trail camera pictures of him in the scrape on the first cold front on Oct 6th, but nothing since then. As a mature buck usually does, he circled downwind of the scrape first. Luckily for me I had already ranged a window below it at 30 yards.
With the help of my Browning Trail Cameras, trusting the plan, and being more aggressive, I was able to notch my tag on a great North Carolina buck!
